IRIE IRIE IRIE Irish Moss!

Everyday we hear about a new Natural product that is supposed to be the best on the market, Healing you from this and saving you from that, after a while It gets a bit boring and makes me want to go back to eating two mama Burgers for $4. HA! If only it were that easy! I've gone too far to turn back to that life so I've had to discover new ways to discern which Herbs are truly worth adding to a routine that's already Jam Packed. Sometimes all it takes is one person who I really respect to recommend it which stimulates me to begin my research. This is exactly what happened with Irish Moss. Dr. Sebi, a major influence for me swears by this stuff so I thought I would look into it and give it a shot, but who knew it would be so hard to get my hands on! I went to every health foods and supplement store in the city and no one even knew what it was, much less if they had it in stock. These obscure products are especially intriguing for me. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't especially attracted towards things that no one knows about, to being on the cutting edge. Sometimes there are reasons why these things are unknown and why they should stay this way, but the satisfaction I'll receive if I've found a hidden gem is worth the risk.

Dr. Sebi revers Irish Moss for its high mineral content, stating that it contains 92 of the 102 minerals needed for the body to sustain itself. He recommends irish moss as a tonic to drink during a fast, which he believes is an essential step to healing any ailment in the body. After doing my own research I found plenty of Clinical studies to back his fasting claim, but that's a whole other post (that I will definitely make! I did a 3-day Irish moss fast a few months ago.). Taking a deeper look into Irish Moss I found that its been called a super food in the Raw foods community for some time now! Popular as a creamer and thickening agent due to its high Carrageenan content, (The good whole food kind) There are very few recipes that can't be enhanced with a little addition of Irish moss.

When Taken from its hard, nearly inedible dried form then soaked and made into a semi tasteless gel (see video above) you really begin to unleash the medicinal benefits of the Seaweed. When ingested the smooth gel has a soothing effect on the mucous membranes in the body (F.Y.I -Dr.Sebi says Mucous is the single cause of dis-ease) and has a mild laxative, colon cleansing effect. When applied topically it softens, soothes and heals the skin leaving it extra smooth and glowing. I've Experimented with a bunch of different masks and Irish Moss is by far the best I've ever used. I thought all that skin marketing was a lie until I saw my skin could actually glow after using it! Since it's also from the ocean it provides a subtle cooling/waking effect whether eaten or used externally. I'll Post some specific recipes for it in the future but for now check out some of the creations I've made using it below.

p.s. In the Middle of writing this post I came down with a Nasty flu which was perfect because I finally tried Irish moss tea for its mucus clearing effects. I Mixed it with a Turmeric Holy Basil blend that I often give out and I was near mucus free for the whole period of having the flu. Barely coughed, no Phlegm, Nose was clear.. This stuff is magic!
